Dr Eric Clinton presents at FFI Symposium
Director of DCU Centre for Family Business, Dr Eric Clinton presented at a prestigious Family Business symposium in Washington DC recently. The Family Firm Institute hosted their annual global conference entitled Family Enterprise: Complexities, Constituencies and Constellations.
Eric spoke alongside Matthew Allen of Babson College, Mattias Nordqvist of Jönköping International Business School, Sweden and Carlo Salvato of Universita Bocconi, Italy with moderator, Professor Justin Craig of Northeastern University, Boston who is also adjunct professor at DCU Centre for Family Business. The panel discussion was part of the post -conference Research and Education Symposium on Saturday, 11th October.
Eric and the panellists discussed the contributing factors leading to growth and longevity in family enterprises based on the latest research findings of the Successful Transgenerational Entrepreneurship Project (STEP). STEP is a research initiative involving 40 institutions and 200 scholars worldwide who research and study the entrepreneurial process in long lived family businesses.
Eric Clinton commented:

It was a fantastic opportunity to openly share the knowledge, research and findings we’ve accumulated in the DCU Centre for Family Business. Having access to Irish family businesses, 2nd to 7th generation, has allowed us to speak with some authority about the idiosyncratic nature of family business dynamics.’
This year’s conference explored the multiple dynamics of family businesses, the involvement of stakeholders and the impact of social and cultural factors on family based enterprises. The annual four day event attracts prominent keynote speakers, educators, researchers and family business members from throughout the globe.
