Next generation women leaders in family business event at DCU

Behind every successful family business there stands a woman.

In the DCU National Centre for Family Business we would like to recognise, illuminate and celebrate the unique influence, experiences and perspectives of next generation women leaders at our morning event on November 22 at DCU Business School.

Next Generation Women Leaders in Family Business

The event, for which tickets are free of charge, will take place from 9am until 12 noon on DCU Glasnevin campus.

Attendees will hear from second generation family member and Operations Director of Height for Hire, Frances McArdle. Founded by Harry McArdle in 1978, Height for Hire has not only survived but thrived under the leadership of both Frances and her brother, Managing Director, Fergus McArdle. In recognition of their entrepreneurial prowess, both siblings were made finalists of the 2017 EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Frances will share her family business story as well as her experience running this successful and highly enterprising family business.

The morning’s event will also include a presentation from Teresa McColgan, Partner and Next Gen Club Lead at PwC Ireland, who will introduce PwC Next Gen Club and the leadership development opportunities offered within.

Director of Research at DCU National Centre for Family Business, Professor Maura McAdam, whose research expertise extend to gender, technology entrepreneurship and family business, will chair our morning event.

Researcher at DCU National Centre for Family Business, Martina Brophy, will share some key insights on research into women in family business in addition to launching new exciting research into Next Generation Women’s Leadership in Family Business.

Next Generation Women Leaders in Family Business will take place on Thursday November 22 at DCU Business School. Attendance is free but early registration is required through Eventbrite as spaces are limited. The event is exclusive to female next gen managers in family businesses.
