Barretstown Mountain Trek

DCU staff and students take on Barretstown 30km Dublin Mountains Challenge

A total of eight DCU staff and students will be doing a 30km hike across the Dublin Mountains for Barretstown.

The Barretstown Dublin Mountains Challenge is taking place on Sunday, September 26th. The challenge is the charity’s annual flagship fundraising event.

Some 200 people - individuals as well as groups from companies and organisations - are taking part in the challenge, which starts in Sean Walshe Park in Tallaght and follows a 30km trek along the Dublin Mountains Way walking route, finishing in Glencullen at the GAP Centre.

A number of DCU staff have also answered Barretstown’s call to help steward the event, and will be stationed throughout the route.

DCU's Dublin Mountains Challenge team - headed by Aishling Silke - has an ambitious fundraising target of €10,000.

The team members are: Emer Ní Bhrádaigh, Karen Buckley, Tara Concannon-Gibney, Craig Dwyer, Orla Kelly, Jane Last and Seana McKeever.

Team members have assured us they are counting their steps, attacking steep hills and working those glutes in preparation for this event!

The DCU Barretstown twitter account @DCUBarretstown will also be live tweeting their trek on the day.

If you wish to show your support and donate, you can do so on the individual profile pages, or on the Team DCU page which is here. If you donate to an individual, it will still count toward the team’s final figure.

If you wish to donate to an individual, click on the team member's name below and you will be brought to their fundraising page.

All funds raised will help the charity bring more children living with serious illness to experience their life-changing therapeutic programmes at Barretstown.
