BA Gaeilge, Iriseoireacht agus na Meáin Dhigiteacha (DC239)

The BA Gaeilge, Iriseoireacht agus na Meáin Dhigiteacha is an innovative development by Fiontar & Scoil na Gaeilge. On this programme students will develop practical journalism and media skills, a thorough understanding of media institutions in general and of bilingual and Irish-language media in particular, and study and practice of written and spoken Irish. The Irish language and bilingual media provide excellent opportunities for graduates with the ability to operate to high standards in both languages. This course will give you a distinct advantage together with the confidence and capability to make a significant contribution to this dynamic sector.

Entry Requirements

H4 in Irish and in English Higher level. You should be confident in your ability to communicate effectively through Irish. 

Programme Structure

The BA Gaeilge agus Iriseoireacht is a three year programme. Final year includes an internship working in media in RTE services or other media organisations.

Career Prospects

Excellent career opportunities exist for graduates with a high level of proficiency in Irish, detailed knowledge of media operations and practices, and a thorough understanding of Irish-language and bilingual media. 

BA Gnó Gaeilge (DC118)

On this course students will acquire expertise in business and management, exellent information technology skills and good knowledge of the Irish language. Students will be accustomed to working as members of groups and will have the personal development opportunities which will enable them to use their own imagination in a creative business context. Students will acquire the high standard of education necessary to make their final mark.

Entry Requirements

H4 in Irish higher level or O1 Irish ordinary level. Applicants should be confident in their ability to communicate effectively through Irish.

Programme Structure

This programme is of three or four years' duration. Students may avail of a one-year Intra work placement. It is a full-time course taught through the medium of Irish.

Career Prospects

Students will have a firm grounding in business and management, information technology and Irish, which will allow graduates to broaden their employment paths. Among the career paths which will be available to graduates are: business and project management, business analysis, teaching, careers in the media and translation, the public sector and the cultural, heritage and language sectors.
