Biographical Details

Dr. John F. Gallagher - Associate Professor, Dublin City University. Ph.D. awarded by National University of Ireland on 'Synthesis and Structure of derivatives of the [Re2Cl8]2- anion'. This was followed by postdoctoral research in small molecule crystallography and chemical synthesis at the University of Guelph, Canada (1990-1993) and as an EU Fellow in Organometallic chemistry at Cambridge (1993-1995).

Currently 203 peer-reviewed chemistry and structural science papers have been published since 1989 ( cited > 3500 times) and h-index of 30. Three Co-Editorships include Acta Crystallographica Section C, (2000-2012), Acta Crystallographica Section E (2011-2014) and presently the IUCr journal IUCrData, http://www.iucr.org/. Overall 1000+ international publications reviewed/edited (since 2000) for IUCr, RSC and ACS journals, primarily as a Co-Editor and also as an independent reviewer. DORAS: the DCU Institutional Repository holds some IUCr papers/posters at http://doras.dcu.ie/view/people/Gallagher,_John_F=2E.html: YouTube clips:

Current research interests include synthesis and structural systematics of benzamides, carbamates and imides as well as macrocyclic and oligomer imide synthesis of trezimides and tennimides. Recent papers have included halogen bonding studies and the importance of weak interactions in influencing crystal structure formation. International research lectures and presentations/workshops (by invitation) in several top Brazilian, French, Omani and Indian Universities (2013-present). Biopharmaceutical, Biotechnology & Health theme coordinator for Research Brazil Ireland (2013-2016) under an SFI-funded mobility initiative. On sabbatical leave as a Visitinf Professor (2015-2016) at CRM-2, University of Lorraine, Nancy, France.

DCU administration includes the Programme Chair of the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Science (AC) degree (from 2014-2018) and presently the Teaching Convenor for the Chemical Sciences in DCU: https://www4.dcu.ie/courses/undergraduate/chemistry/chemical-and-pharmaceutical-sciences.shtml
