DCU shortlisted for the IITD National Training Awards 2020

Once again, Dublin City University is delighted to be shortlisted for the IITD National Training Awards in the “Excellence in Coaching and Mentoring” category.

The Awards are in their 22nd year and recognise the “excellence, best practice and innovation in Training and Learning & Development”.

The submission represented strong collaboration between the Careers Service, the School of Communications, the School of Law and Government and the DCU Alumni Office.

2019/2020 was another hugely successful year for the three strands of Mentorship available at DCU.

The Structured Mentorship Programme had a combination of 240 mentors and mentees with mentoring second year students from all five Faculty’s at DCU, contributing greatly to the transformative student experience at the university.

The Graduate to Graduate Law Mentorship Programme grew in size again during the 2019/20 academic year, there were 32 matches, with a combination of over 60 participants from the Alumni community as experienced graduates mentored recent graduates for a six month period.

Finally, the Graduate to Postgraduate MSc Public Relations and Strategic Communications Mentorship Programme once again matched all students from the class with experienced industry professionals. This programme is now in its third year, and the majority of this year’s mentors have already been involved in the Graduate to Postgraduate Mentorship programme in previous years. Five graduates of this programme volunteered as mentors for 2019/2020, and three graduates volunteered for the second time.

“I think that the Mentorship Programme is a fantastic initiative, and I really benefited so much from it as a Mentee. I feel very privileged to be coming back to the Programme now as a Mentor.”

The IITD National Training Awards 2020 will take place virtually on the 25th of September at 12pm noon. The broadcast will be available to watch on their website at iitdawards.ie
