This hands-on workshop will guide staff step by step in writing a GenAI Teaching Statement for an assessment, module or programme. The statement will provide clear guidance to students on the authorised and unauthorised use of GenAI. Participants will first review the purpose of a given assessment and then determine the extent to which GenAI can (or cannot) be used, based on a GenAI Assessment Scale (Perkins et al., 2024). They will further reflect to justify their choices regarding the allowed (or not allowed) use of GenAI by students, and also learn about different approaches to properly acknowledge the use of GenAI. Participants are expected to leave the session with a draft GenAI teaching statement they can integrate immediately in their assessment/ module/ program.

As we prepare for the end of the semester, you may wish to review best practices for setting up your gradebook and tallying your final grades. A comprehensive suite of resources on grading and Loop Gradebook is available on the Loop Staff Support Page in the Assessment section.

The ILTA EdTech organising committee have been in touch to highlight a call for submissions for innovative contributions on teaching and learning. Under the leadership of Dr Claire McAvinia of Trinity College Dublin, a committee has been formed that will consider applications for the 2025 Jennifer Burke Award for Innovation in Teaching and Learning. This award recognises and rewards innovative practice and in particular aims to reflect and remember Jenn’s vibrancy, creativity, energy and passion for learning.
Please consider submitting a short video proposal presenting your work as per the attached call document. The submission link is in the document along with other important guidance. Time is tight as proposals are due May 12th. The winner will be announced at the EdTech conference.
