Book a room to do group projects

Group Study Rooms (GSRs) are available for registered DCU students who want to work together on projects or other academic tasks.

The booking system is simple to use. It clearly shows which rooms are available and when, so you can reserve a space quickly and easily.

During the summer semester, GSR booking is suspended, with rooms allocated on a first come, first served basis.

How to Book a Group Study Room (During Term Time):

  • Select the Library you want in the Location field.
  • Select how long you want the room for in the Category. field. You can book for 1 hour or 2 hours.
  • Select the date.
  • Click the time slot you want:
    • Green means the room is free
    • Red means it's already booked
  • Click Submit Times at the bottom of screen.
  • Read the Terms & Conditions and click on Continue.
  • Enter your name and DCU email and click on Submit My Booking.
  • You’ll get an email – make sure to verify your booking straight away. If you don’t verify it within 3 hours, it’ll be cancelled.
  • Once it’s verified, you’ll get a confirmation email with the details.

Note: You cannot book a GSR by phone or email

Group Study Rooms can be booked/used by registered DCU students who need a space for group work.

Rooms cannot not be booked/used by staff, external members, or alumni members, even if accompanied by a DCU registered student.

O’Reilly Library has 16 rooms and Cregan Library has 2 rooms available.

Note: Whiteboards are available in each study room in O'Reilly Library. Whiteboard markers and wiping clothes are available from the library help desk in exchange for your DCU ID card.

How many bookings can I make?

Each student is permitted to book a maximum of ONE room for use in a single day.
Block booking a study room over the course of the day will not be possible.

How will I know when my booking is confirmed?

After you book a GSR, you’ll get an email asking you to verify it. Make sure to do that within 3 hour, otherwise, the booking will be cancelled.
Once you’ve verified it, you’ll get a confirmation email with the room number, date, and time.
Don’t forget to share the details with your group!

What if I never receive a confirmation email?

The confirmation email is the second email you should receive. If you didn’t get it, it likely means you didn’t verify your booking within 3 hours of receiving the first email (the verification email).
If you didn’t receive this first email, it’s possible you entered your DCU email address incorrectly, or used a different email address by mistake. In this case, please contact the Library Help Desk for help.

Reminder: Always use your DCU student email when booking a GSR.

How do I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking via the cancel link in your confirmation email.
Please don’t make a booking if you do not intend to use it, as this is a very popular service

I forgot to confirm my booking!

If you have not confirmed your booking within 3 hours of receiving the verification email, the booking will be cancelled.

What if we're late for our booking?

If a room is unoccupied 15 minutes after the booking start time, it will be considered free and can be used by another group.

How do I use the LCD monitor?

Every study room has an LCD monitor that you can connect to your laptop using the HDMI cable provided.
Wireless connectivity is not available, and the monitors do not support audio output.

To set it up:

  1. Use the control panel on the wall to turn on the screen
  2. Plug the HDMI cable into your laptop
  3. Turn on your laptop. The screen should connect automatically after a few seconds

If you need help, contact the DTS Helpdesk.
