Library Monitors needed!
DCU Library is creating a panel of Library Monitors and positions are available in O’Reilly Library, Cregan Library, and Woodlock Hall Library.
Employment will run from November 2025 to May 2026

Job Description:
Successful applicants will be expected to work a minimum of 4 hours up to 16 hours per week for the months outlined above, and will carry out a range of duties in relation to the Library. Applicants will be expected to work late shifts, including up until midnight to support late opening hours during the academic year. Additionally, they will be expected to take on additional day shifts leading up to, and during, exam periods.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Managing gate access during non serviced hours - 8pm-midnight (Monday to Thursday), 5pm-midnight (Friday) 5pm - 9pm, (Woodlock Hall Library)
- Patrolling the library to ensure that noise is kept to a minimum
- Patrolling the library and implementing seat management policies
- Assisting users with directional questions
- Assisting with seasonal exam campaigns
- Day-to day management of library spaces e.g. furniture and equipment
- Variation of these duties and any other relevant duties as assigned by the line manager
Experience and Qualifications:
No formal qualifications are required for the post but applicants should have excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills. Experience of academic libraries is desirable.
Salary scale:
€16.21 per hour
